Vacations to Mexico

Mexico is a sun-worshipper's paradise, but it's also a country that's proud of its rich history, cultural diversity, and friendly people.

Cancún, the Riviera Maya, and Cozumel offer a sublime location on the Caribbean Sea and boast endless days of bright sunshine, relaxing beaches, and Mayan ruins. On Mexico's west coast, the sun, sand, and immensity of the Pacific Ocean are home to many diversions. Challenge yourself on the gorgeous fairways of Los Cabos, immerse yourself in the fun of Acapulco or Mazatlán, stroll the cobblestone streets of Puerto Vallarta, relax at the exquisite resorts of Riviera Nayarit, or enjoy the simple pleasures of Ixtapa and Manzanillo. Mexico vacations have something for everyone.

Mexico Vacations

There's a reason Mexico is one of the most popular vacation spots in the world. Actually, there are lots of reasons! The country offers many popular destinations and a huge variety of activities, from relaxing on the beach or being pampered in a Mexico resort to exploring Mayan ruins.

For many visitors - at least those in Northern climates - Winter is the time to take Mexico vacations, to escape less desirable weather at home. But visiting at other times of year is also enjoyable. It is not as busy and can be less expensive since it is low season for the travel industry in Mexico. Whether you are planning your Mexico vacation for low or high season, the first major decision is where to go.

Here are some popular spots for Mexico vacations. This list is by no means exhaustive but can serve as a starting point for researching a vacaction.

  • Acapulco
  • Cabo San Lucas
  • Cancun
  • Cozumel
  • Ensenada
  • Guadalajara
  • Ixtapa
  • Juarez
  • Manzanillo
  • Mazatlan
  • Mexico City
  • Oaxaca
  • Puerto Vallarta
  • San Jose del Cabo
  • Tijuana
  • Tulum
  • Veracruz

When you've decided where to go in Mexico, you will need to investigate the types of accommodation available. Mexico hotels are plentiful, from large 5 star luxury hotels to small local hotels. In many areas you can also find different types of vacation accommodation, such as bed and breakfast or traditional hacienda style lodging.

You should also think about what sort of amenities and activities are important to you. Will you spend most of your Mexico vacation relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun inbetween quick swims in the ocean? Are you more active, looking for golf, tennis and fitness rooms. Do you plan to do a lot of shopping? Is fine dining or nightlife important to you? Don't fret though, if you want it all, you can find that too, particularly at some of the larger resorts.
